Today, Friday, a committee from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, headed by Dr. Said Allam, the dean of the college, conducted tests for a Muharram Bey bridge, in preparation for its complete maintenance in order to preserve the lives of citizens.
Muharram Bey Bridge was partially slumped and a concrete slab collapsed yesterday morning, causing traffic paralysis without any injuries, which necessitated partial closure of the bridge in front of traffic.
The Alexandria Roads Directorate completed the reinforced concrete pouring to repair the landing site and the partial collapse of the bridge, in preparation for reopening it again to traffic.
Major General Mohamed El Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, directed that the landing repair work in Muharram Bey Bridge should be completed within 24 hours, given the importance of the bridge, which links all major roads in the governorate.
In addition to making the necessary traffic diversions, Major General Mohamed El-Kady, Director of the Traffic Department in Alexandria, was tasked with making 3 traffic diversions using the airport, Qena, and Mahmoudia ring roads.
