The Ministry of Health and Population announced that it has raised the maximum level of readiness in all quarantine departments at the various entry points of the country (air, marine, and land), against the backdrop of the World Health Organization warning hospitals around the world to take preventive precautions from the possibility of a new strain of the Coronavirus.

Dr. Alaa Eid, Head of Preventive Medicine Sector, stated that all travelers coming from the areas where the disease appeared and immediate isolation of any suspected disease, are being discussed, and a circular has been circulated to all health facilities at the level of the Republic, including the definition of cases and dealing with them, and preventive measures For medical providers.

“Eid” added that the ministry has raised the degree of preparedness and infection control measures, and equipped isolation departments in fever hospitals entrusted with dealing with such cases, and activated procedures to monitor acute respiratory diseases, raise awareness, and monitor the global epidemiological situation around the clock.

It is noteworthy that the World Health Organization had announced 41 outbreaks of pneumonia, including one death and confirmed cases of infection with the emerging corona virus “nCOV” in China on January 7, 2020, and this new virus is a group of corona viruses, including SARS and virus Corona Emerging Middle East Syndrome “MERS-CoV”.

The Thai health authorities also announced that one case was infected with the same virus on January 14, 2020. He is a Chinese citizen with a travel history for the same area of ​​infection. All cases were associated with being in a fish market in Wuhan, China, Hubei Province, and the Chinese authorities closed the market, Since then no other new cases have emerged, and so far there are no infections on the medical team and no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

The World Health Organization also issued a leaflet encouraging all countries of the world to continue preparedness activities and issued directives in this regard, and said that all health practitioners and public health officials should provide all information to travelers to reduce the risk of respiratory infections through quarantine clinics in ports and airports.
