Ahmed Mortada Mansour, a member of the Zamalek Club, said that his club’s position on the African Super is clear, as they refuse to play the match in Qatar.
Qatar will host the African Super between Zamalek and its Tunisian counterpart, Esperance, next February.
Ahmed Mortada added, in statements to the Zamalek satellite channel during the early hours of Thursday morning: “There are circumstances that we see and direct death threats to players and members of the board of directors. The issue must reach the African Union.
The Zamalek club board member explained that they did not find any problem in facing Esperance, but not in Qatar, so they address the Confederation of African Football because the most important thing is the safety of their team’s mission.
A member of the Board of Directors of Zamalek Club concluded his speech by sending a message to his club fans: “Do not worry about discounts and penalties, we put these things in our calculations.”
A punishment will be imposed on Zamalek if he refuses to participate in the African Super.
