Cairo newspapers, released Thursday morning, highlighted the escalation of Palestinian anger in rejection of the American peace plan, and a number of local affairs topics and news.
On its front page and under the title “Escalation of Palestinian Anger in the West Bank in Rejection of Trump’s Plan”, the newspaper “Al-Ahram” reported that the popular Palestinian anger escalated the day after US President Donald Trump announced his peace plan between the Palestinians and the Israelis as the general strike prevailed in the Gaza Strip yesterday and government institutions and schools were suspended and the closure of Shops.
The newspaper pointed out that the Israeli occupation forces suppressed the gland of angry demonstrations in the Jordan Valley and Bethlehem in the West Bank, and fired gas bombs at the participants in the demonstrations condemning the plan that included all the occupied lands.
Al-Ahram added that the National and Islamic Supreme Follow-up Committee in the Gaza Strip called for a comprehensive strike for every facility in life in the sector except the Ministry of Health, and said in a statement: The goal is to send a clear message that “the ill-fated Trump plan will not pass and our people will resist it in all shapes and methods until it falls.” She urged “the raising of black flags on the roofs of official and governmental buildings and institutions.”
On its front page, Al-Gomhoria newspaper reported that Ambassador Bassam Rady, a spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call yesterday from Charles Michel, President of the European Council.
The newspaper quoted Radhi as saying: The contact addressed the developments of the Palestinian issue in light of the announcement of the American vision to solve it, as it was agreed on intensifying efforts to seek peace and reach to settle the Palestinian issue in a way that restores the Palestinian people all their legitimate rights through the establishment of its independent and sovereign state on the occupied Palestinian lands In accordance with international legitimacy and its decisions and in a manner that supports stability and security in the Middle East.
A number of files and issues of common concern between Egypt and the European Union were also discussed, on top of which are ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides at all levels and efforts to combat illegal immigration and terrorism. In this regard, it was agreed on the imperative to deal with the main roots of the phenomenon of illegal immigration and terrorism in a basin. The newspaper pointed out that the United Arab Emirates announced yesterday the registration of the first infections with the new virus on its soil for a Chinese family of 4 people coming from the city of Wuhan in what is considered the first confirmed infection with the virus in the Middle East.
The statement of the UAE Ministry of Health clarified the health status of the injured, stable and under medical observation, and the Ministry confirmed that it is coordinating with all relevant health authorities and agencies in the country around the clock to monitor and control the general health status.
On the government’s weekly meeting yesterday, Al-Akhbar newspaper reported that Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly instructed Minister of Justice Counselor Omar Marwan and Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones to review all decisions of the Investment Dispute Resolution Committee, limit the decisions and start their implementation immediately.
Madbouly indicated that the implementation of these decisions contributes to improving the investment climate in Egypt and giving a positive image that the state is implementing its decisions that contribute to solving investor problems, and the newspaper pointed out that the Prime Minister gave the concerned authorities a maximum of two weeks to implement the decisions with returning to the council in case of problems.
Under the title “Madbouly reviews the development plan for the northwestern coast”, “Al Akhbar” newspaper reported that Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, stressed the economic and development importance of the Northwest Coast region, which is a magnet for many local and foreign investments, in order to achieve the highest return An economic return, noting that the region is set to witness the establishment of residential communities as well as agricultural and tourism development projects.
The newspaper pointed out that this came during a meeting held by the Prime Minister to review the strategic plan for the development of the northwest coast, in the presence of Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing and Major General Nasser Fawzy, director of the National Center for State Land Use and advisor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
“Al-Ahram” added that the Minister of Housing reviewed the strategic plan of the northwest coast, explaining that it includes major sectors for development in El Alamein, Hammam, Sidi Abdel Rahman, Dabaa, Ras al-Hikma, East Matrouh, West Matrouh, Al-Majila and Salloum.
On the economic front, and under the headline “261 million dollars an increase in Egyptians’ remittances abroad,” “Al-Akhbar” newspaper reported that the preliminary data showed that Egypt’s remittances abroad increased by 261 million dollars in October 2019 at an annual rate of 12.7% to record about 2.3 billion dollars compared to about 2.1 billion Dollars during October 2018, and this resulted in an increase in those transfers during the period July / October 2019 by about one billion dollars, at an annual rate of 13.4%, to record about 9 billion dollars, compared to 8 billion dollars during the corresponding period of the previous year.
And back to the newspaper “Al-Ahram” and its first page, where I mentioned, under the title “Positive indicators for the Renaissance Dam talks”, that the foreign and irrigation ministers in Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia continued yesterday their talks on the Renaissance Dam in the American capital Washington amid reports of positive atmosphere and indications of a breakthrough in reaching a tripartite agreement A comprehensive overview of items and points of outstanding technical and hydrological bases for filling and operating the Ethiopian Dam.
The newspaper pointed out that this comes after the completion of the first day’s sessions and the start of the second and final day’s meetings of the last round of the current negotiations sponsored by the US government represented by President Donald Trump, the Treasury Department and the World Bank between the three countries seeking to reach a comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable agreement on ways to fill and operate the dam In order to achieve the interests of the peoples of the three countries without harming the downstream countries.
