Marie, 26, helped Flamingo win the Brazilian League and the Libertadores Cup last year after joining from Manchester City in July.
Arsenal said the deal includes an option to finally include Marie at the end of the season.
“Pablo is an experienced player who will provide us with additional quality in defense,” said Edo of Arsenal coach.
“We have been following Pablo for a while and we are very happy to reach an agreement with Flamingo to join us in principle until the end of the current season,” he added.
Mary will reinforce coach Mikel Artitas defensive options in the absence of Calum Chambers, Kieran Terni and Siad Kulasinatch because of the injury.
Shkodran Mustafa was injured during Arsenal’s victory over Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday.
