Amr El-Ganaini, Chairman of the Interim Committee in charge of managing the Egyptian Football Association, commented on the current crisis between Zamalek and the African Union “CAF” regarding the super match against Esperance.
Al-Janaini said in statements via the “Cairo and the People” screen: “The Football Association is not a party to this crisis. The matter is related to Zamalek Club, and they are the decision-makers on this match.”
Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour announced on more than one occasion that he will not go to Qatar to face Esperance, noting that he is awaiting the decision of the security authorities regarding this match (See details).
For his part, Ahmed Mortada Mansour, a member of the board of directors of Zamalek Club, confirmed that his club is committed to not playing the African Super Cup in Qatar (See details).
On the other hand, Ahmed Ahmed, president of the Confederation of African Football, warned Zamalek’s management not to play the match, stressing that law and regulations will be applied to any club that will not participate in the Super African match (See details).
The African Super Cup will be held in the Qatari capital, Doha, on February 14th.
Zamalek is playing this match as the champion of the Confederation of Africa, while Esperance plays as champion of the African Champions League for the second time in a row.
