Al-Ahly coach Rene Weiler talked about the different level of the team between the two leagues and the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly continued its league victories after a disappointing tie against Platinum 1-1 in the CAF Champions League, and beat Tanta 5-0 in the 13th round of the league competition.
“I have to be happy after winning 5-0, we scored a first goal and it took time for us to score 4 more,” Weiler told the news conference.
“Metwally continues to play in the center of the defense and also the defensive midfield. In modern football it is important for the player to perform well in more than one position, we are always looking for the future, the player may participate in one position and then benefit from him in another position.”
“Metwalli’s injury is not strong,” he added. “Of course, playing in the center of the defender is exhausting. The player is running a lot. I hope things are okay.”
“We returned from a long journey, of course, whoever participated in the Platinum match was suffering from stress,” he stressed.
Regarding the difference in the level of Al-Ahly in the League and Africa, Weiler replied, “I have previously stated that the African Champions League includes the best club in every country, and therefore the competition is different. I do not underestimate the level of the league, but things in the Champions League are more difficult and different.”
He concluded, “In Africa there will be different travel and airspace, of course I am not talking about justifications, but things in the Champions League are more difficult than the league.”
