Magdi Abdel-Ghani, a former Football Association member, revealed that Liverpool Salah Mohamed Salah has been told not to attend the CAF Awards for 2019.
“Salah informed me of his decision not to attend the ceremony, it is his decision, he is convinced of him and he bears his responsibility and there is no need to ignite things,” Abdel-Ghani said while hosting the Echo Channel.
“Salah has the right to make fun of the award for the best football association, as many have mocked him, and he has the right to convey to his fans what he wants,” he added.
Abdel-Ghani continued, “The Football Association deserves the award because it is the one who brought the African Nations Championship to Egypt and knows full well that it is possible that we will not win the title, it is not a condition that the organizer wins the championship cup.”
The former Football Association member stressed, “Honoring the country, but the African Union will not honor a country until it is not said that it is government interference.”
On the authority of Hani Aburaida, Magdy Abdel-Ghani replied, “Abu Raida is a symbol and they wanted to honor the owner of the achievement and the Football Association in the person of Hani Aburaida, because he was the first official when organizing the championship last June.”
And he completed his statements in this regard, “The temporary committee that currently manages the Football Association has nothing to do with the organization of the African Cup of Nations for adults or the under-23 championship.”
Mohamed Salah, the star of the Egyptian national team, did not attend the best cave concert held in Hurghada. The ceremony saw Sadio Mane, his teammate in Liverpool, win the award for best player in Africa for 2019.
