The famous French newspaper, “France Football”, devoted space on its website in order to talk about Al-Ahly and its chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, in light of the difficult confrontation against Al-Hilal Sudanese in the last round.
“In Cairo, no one dares to imagine the worst scenario,” the journalist said at the start of her speech. “The Egyptian Red Devils team is 90 minutes away from a possible exit from the CAF Champions League group stage.”
The newspaper continued: “The team that crowned the African Champions League 8 times, and won 19 African titles, possesses the reputation of the world’s great people, it is on the continental level similar to what Real Madrid is doing in Europe.”
She added, “But despite that Al-Ahly achieved the CAF Champions League last time in 2013, and played the last final in 2018, nevertheless millions of Al-Ahly fans felt offended when they lost to Sundowns 5-0 in the last quarter-final, and winning in the second leg did not Erase this feeling. ”
“Swiss coach Rene Weiler, who started his career in August 2019, realizes that his goal is, above all, to restore the title that he escapes from the club long ago.”
Al-Ahly will play against Al-Hilal of Sudan next Saturday, and it needs a draw, at least, in order to qualify, or win if it wants to gain the top spot in the group.
