US health experts expect the Corona virus, which has recently spread in China, to kill nearly tens of millions of people in the world within a year and a half.
In a worrying warning, leading US health experts predict, 3 months before the outbreak of the “Coruna Virus” in China, that the virus will kill nearly 65 million people worldwide.
Scientists at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, designed a virtual epidemiological model on a computer as part of research, last October, and the simulation expected that 65 million people from all over the world would be eliminated in just 18 months, according to the British newspaper “Daily Mail” .
So far, the virus described as “highly contagious”, which is sweeping China, has killed 41 people and infected more than 1,300, but experts expect the true number of HIV infections to be in thousands, according to the Sky News Arabia news channel today.
The British newspaper quoted a senior researcher at the Johns Hopkins Center, Dr. Eric Toner, as saying that he was not shocked when news emerged of the spread of the Corona virus in Wuhan in late December, adding: “For a long time I believed that the most likely virus that could cause In a new pandemic, it will be the Corona virus.
He continued: “We do not yet know the extent of his ability to transmit infection, we know that it is spread through transmission from one person to another, but we do not know to what extent, and the initial impression is that this is much more moderate than the SARS virus, so it is reassuring, but it is from On the other hand, it may be more transmissible than SARS. ”
Corona viruses cause respiratory infections, and can lead to diseases such as pneumonia or colds. One of these viruses was also responsible for the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in China in early 2000, which infected nearly 8,000 people and killed 774 people.
And the simulation, conducted by Dr. Toner on the computer, indicated that after 6 months, almost every country in the world will suffer from infection with the Corona virus, and within 18 months, 65 million people can die from the virus infection.
It is worth noting that the WHO does not consider the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan a pandemic, although cases of HIV infection have been reported in 12 different countries, namely the United States, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Nepal, as well as France and Australia.
