Major General Hamdi Al-Hashash, Secretary General of Alexandria Governorate, said that the Traffic Department partially closed the bridge and made alternative traffic diversions at the bottom, to ensure the continuation of traffic.
Al-Hashash indicated that iron barriers had been put in place and the repair of the collapsed part had begun by the Directorate of Roads and the Northern Coast Reconstruction Authority.
The Secretary-General of the governorate added that a comprehensive maintenance of the bridge is underway during the coming period.
The Governorate Operations Room received a notification of landing and collapse in Muharram Bey Bridge, and traffic forces and members of the police station, and Major General Fadi Wadih, head of Wasat neighborhood, moved to the site of the collapse.
