The National Council for Persons with Disabilities organized this afternoon a training workshop for sign language interpreters, as part of the Council’s participation in the activities of the Cairo International Book Fair in its 51st session, to be held during the period from January 22 to February 4 at the Egypt Center for International Exhibitions in Fifth Avenue.
The workshop reviewed the activities and events of the Cairo International Book Fair to be implemented during its session this year, and distributed examples of activities to them. The workshop discussed specialized cultural terms with sign translators, to get to know them and how to easily translate them for people with hearing disabilities.
In cooperation with sign language interpreters nominated to volunteer at the Cairo International Book Fair during its session this year, the Council seeks to translate all the exhibition’s activities and educational seminars in all its different halls that come within the cultural exhibition program, in addition to translating the necessary instructions in the sign language for the visitors of the exhibition with persons with disabilities Audio, to enable communication with them, and with a view to spreading awareness of the importance of sign language among the exhibition’s pioneers in the life of a group that constitutes about 4% of the total proportion of society, in order to take care of the need to learn it, which facilitates communication with persons with hearing disabilities, and this step comes within the framework of The Jehat political leadership need to enable persons with disabilities in various fields.
It is worth noting that this year, the Council participates in the Cairo International Book Fair with its stand at Plaza 2, which includes cultural and artistic products for more than 200 artists with different disabilities, in addition to a group of cultural activities and activities during the exhibition days.
