The central bank responds to a rumor of circulating counterfeit banknotes of 200 pounds


The Central Bank denied reports of circulating counterfeit banknotes of 200 pounds, affirming that it is not correct to trade counterfeit banknotes of 200 pounds or any other categories, stressing the existence of continuous coordination with the Ministry of Interior and Public Fund Investigations to counter any counterfeiting of banknotes He pointed out that the process of producing paper money currencies is carried out according to the most recent technological methods, and is subject to advanced insurance operations in all its stages, within the framework of the Central Bank of Egypt’s keenness to keep abreast of the continuous international developments in securing Egyptian issued banknotes.

He explained in the rumor monitoring report to the government that Egyptian banknotes have insurance elements in all categories, especially in banknotes of large classes 50, 100 and 200 pounds, where different watermarks are set for each category to increase insurance, as well as insurance strips, as well as the visually changing elements in Print inks, as well as adding anti-colored elements for all categories.

He appealed to the Central Bank of the various media and social media users to seek accuracy and objectivity in disseminating news and communicating with the concerned authorities to ensure before publishing information that is not based on any facts and leads to confusion of public opinion.
