The Turkish Anatolia News Agency said today, Wednesday, that the Egyptian police raided its office in Cairo and arrested a number of its employees.
“The Egyptian police raided the Anatolia Agency office and detained 4 people, including a Turkish citizen, and the detainees were taken to an unknown location,” the agency said in a tweet on its official account on Twitter.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the raid on the agency’s office, and said in a statement: “We expect the Egyptian authorities to release the workers of the Anatolia office in Cairo (including a Turkish citizen) immediately.”

And the Turkish presidency condemned the storming of the office by saying: “We condemn the hostile practices of the Egyptian authorities against the Turkish media.”
The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Egyptian Charge d’Affairs to Ankara after the arrest of the agency’s staff in Cairo.
