The Media Center of the Council of Ministers denied reports in some media, websites and social media pages regarding the damage of the winter crops due to climate change (frost and dust storms).
According to a statement today, Friday, the media center contacted the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, which denied these reports, confirming that there is no truth to the damage of agricultural crops due to climatic changes, explaining that all precautionary measures have been taken to protect crops from dust storms, frost and bad weather.
She pointed out that a large surplus of fruit and vegetables production was achieved, as Egypt’s agricultural exports increased by 5.8%, reaching about 5 million and 500 thousand and 125 tons during 2019, compared to 5 million and 200 thousand and 250 tons during 2018, an increase of about 299 thousand , And 875 tons.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that within the framework of the state’s keenness on crop safety and increasing its production, a plan was developed to deal with climate change, issuing assignments to all departments of orchards and vegetables to conduct intensive campaigns to provide all technical and indicative recommendations for the frost wave, and to intensify traffic campaigns towards greening, crops cultivated with crops, For immediate intervention and treatment if any of the crops is affected by weather fluctuations, as well as seminars in villages and fields for farmers, as well as developing specialized extension programs at the highest level, provided by a group of agricultural research centers professors specializing in plant diseases and Extension agricultural operations in the various villages of the governorates.
