The Film Culture Center of the National Center for Cinema, headed by Dr. Souad Shawky, President of the National Center for Cinema and under the supervision of critic Magdy El Shehry, Director General of the Cinema Culture Center, will show the Syrian movie “Maryam” next Wednesday evening.

The film was directed by Basil Al-Khatib and starring Sulaf Fawakherji, Abed Fahd, Sabah Al-Jazaery, Asaad Fadda, Nadine Khoury and Maysoun Abu Asaad. The film won many awards, the most important of which was the award for the best actress obtained by “Sulaf Fawakherji” from the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries in 2013, the grand prize from the Dakhla Festival in Morocco in 2014, the grand prize of the Oran Festival for the Arabic Film in Algeria 2014, and the bronze dagger award at the Muscat International Film Festival Prize for the best actress, “Sabah Al Jazaery”, and the award for best photography (Farhad Mahmoudi).

The film tells the story of three women with the same name “Maryam”, and over different periods of time starting in 1918, through the setback of June in Quneitra in 1967, until 2012, and it was filmed in several regions of Syria, and discusses the issue of the Arab-Zionist conflict, and life issues Among them is a story about the last 100 years of Syrian history, as part of a cinematic vision that chronicles the lives of three women belonging to three different time generations, bringing together the Syrian land and the daily details of its people, and the name is Maryam..
