The State Department said that technical negotiations on the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam hosted by the United States will resume today, Tuesday.
The ministry said in a statement reached by the German News Agency (dpa) that the Egyptian Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Water Resources and Irrigation participated in the meeting held yesterday, Monday, at the US Treasury Department headed by Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and in the presence of World Bank President David Malpas, to discuss developments in the ongoing negotiations on rules Fill and run the Renaissance Dam.
Counselor Ahmed Hafez, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry stated that the meetings included lengthy and in-depth meetings between the Egyptian and American sides, during which the Egyptian vision was explained about the rules and mechanisms that should govern the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam, as was followed by a meeting of the Council of Foreign and Irrigation Ministers in Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and accompanying delegations During the discussion, the foundations and technical controls necessary to reach a fair and balanced agreement on filling and operating the Renaissance Dam were discussed.
The spokesperson added that the technical negotiations are scheduled to resume today, Tuesday, at the ministerial level to review and discuss the results of the technical consultations.
