The General Administration of National Security of Tunisia said that its agents discovered hideouts in the central state of Gafsa, in which terrorists hidden a large amount of mines and raw materials for making explosives and ammunition.
And the administration added, in a statement issued today, Saturday, that these explosive materials were buried deep in the “Arabata” mountain in the mentioned state.
After penetrating deep into these bunkers, Tunisian security men found 96 ready-to-use landmines and 390 special cartridges for Kalashnikov automatic rifles, raw materials for making explosives, ammonia, and some other different items (used clothes and cooking utensils …) .
The operation was carried out, in coordination with the National Army, and some departments of the Ministry of the Interior, including competent to combat terrorism.
The communication indicated that mines and ammunition were destroyed by detonating them in the same place, under the supervision of a specialized military unit in this field.
The report noted that the operation was carried out “after investigations into terrorist crimes and organized crime and against the integrity of the national territory, and after the questioning of one of the leaders of the so-called caliphate soldiers” loyal to the terrorist organization “ISIS”.
