Ministers from America, Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan agreed to meet on January 28 and 29 in Washington to reach a comprehensive agreement on the Renaissance Dam, according to a statement issued by the US Treasury Department.
According to “Reuters”, the ministers expressed “their commitment to reach a comprehensive cooperation agreement on filling the dam reservoir.”
And he said statement The filling of the dam will be carried out in stages during the rainy season and will take into account the impact on the water reserves in the downstream countries, adding that the subsequent filling stages of the Renaissance Dam will allow water to drain during long droughts.
The statement stated that the first stage of filling the dam reservoir aims to reach the level of 595 meters above sea level and start generating electricity.
The statement added that appropriate ways will be provided to mitigate the impact of the drought on Egypt and Sudan.
