Users of some smartphones will not be able to enjoy the WhatsApp chat application from February 1.
WhatsApp has issued a statement warning users of the chat application, which is known that it will stop supporting some smartphones that rely on “Android” and “iOS”.
The company said that the app will not be available on Android devices running 2.3.7 and earlier, or iOS 8 and earlier as of February 1, 2020.
Currently, the messaging app supports Android devices running 4.0.3 and above and iOS devices running iOS 9 and later.
According to the company, millions of phones running older OSes will not receive WhatsApp support as of February 1, 2020.
This comes after the company suspended the same application on Windows-based phones on December 31.
The company justified its decisions by “the necessity to install new features” that old operating systems cannot afford.
WhatsApp said that the decision was difficult, especially since the application will stop working even on some iPhones.
It is not the first time that WhatsApp has decided to end support for certain operating systems.
Earlier, the application stopped working in operating systems such as “BlackBerry” and “Nokia Symbian 60” as well as iPhone 3GS.
Below is a list of operating systems that will not support WhatsApp as of February 1, 2020
* All phones running Android 2.3.7 and earlier
* All iPhone devices running iOS 8 and earlier
* All Windows OS phones
