Xavi Hernandez, the coach of the Qatari Dam, talked about his offer to train Barcelona during the past few days, stressing that he was already offered to take over the technical task of the Catalan team, but he refused.
Xavi was the most likely candidate to train the Blaugrana, replacing Ernesto Valverde, who was recently sacked after Barcelona left Spain’s Super Cup by losing 3-2 to Atletico Madrid.
During the press conference of Al-Sadd before his match against Lekhwiya in the Qatar Cup, Chafee was asked about Barcelona training, and the former Blaugrana player said: “Yes, I received an offer to train Barcelona, I contacted Eric Abidal and Oscar (club representatives), but I did not accept it.
He added: “I felt it was too early to train the club at the moment, but that does not mean that it is something that I dream of achieving one day.”
Regarding the appointment of Kiki Sittin as Barcelonas technical director, he said: “I am happy to take on the technical mission. I really like the way he works and wish him success and success.”
It is worth noting that the Barcelona administration announced the appointment of Kate Sittin, the former Real Betis coach, to head the technical management of the Catalan team.
