Tariq Hashem, a member of the board of the Egyptian club Al-Port Said, confirmed that his team will not play in Alexandria in the presence of 1000 fans in the Confederation, even if it cost them to withdraw from the championship.
Al-Masry had received an official letter rejecting the team’s participation in the stadiums of Ismailia Stadium.
“We will not play in Alexandria in the presence of 1000 supporters, even if we are assigned to withdraw from the confederation, the withdrawal is more honorable to us,” Tareq Hashem said in statements to “Masrawy”.
“We must preserve the rights of the fans of the Egyptian club, and it is not logical for this small number of fans to attend the team’s matches in the Confederation,” he added.
“We will continue to address the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the demand for the presence of at least 15,000 fans for the team’s matches in the Confederation, especially the quarter-finals.”
Al-Masry is scheduled to play with his Moroccan counterpart, Renaissance Berkane, in the quarter-finals of the African Confederation.
