Zamalek coach Patrice Carteron confirmed that his team’s victory over Esperance in the African Champions League in the last two versions of the African Super Cup was not easy at all.
Zamalek (3-1) defeated Tunisian Esperance in the Super Cup in Al Gharafa, Qatar, where Al-Abyad won the championship for the fourth time in its history, and Esperance lost it for the second time in a row.
In comments to “Bn Sports” after the match, Cartieron said: “I am very proud of this victory, because winning against the African champion is not easy, we know that it is a strong team, but we have made an exceptional match.”
Patrice added: “We could have scored a lot of goals in the first half, but we were not successful, and in the second half we were surprised by the equalizer, but we were calm and confident and we returned.”
Carteron concluded: “I know that all of Egypt will celebrate Zamalek tonight. We prepared well for the Esperance, and we managed to deal with the crosses that characterize them and the counterattacks, but let’s celebrate now.”
