Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien stressed the need to strengthen coordination between Egypt and the United States of America on regional issues related to the Middle East, especially with regard to the Syrian crisis and the situation in Libya, including the need to combat terrorism and counter the movement of terrorist fighters to and from Libya to countries The Sahel and the Sahara, including calls for the intensification of coordination and cooperation to enhance security and stability in the African continent and the complete elimination of the phenomenon of terrorism.
This came during a meeting held by the Foreign Minister today, Wednesday, with the American official as part of Shukry’s visit to Washington to participate in the negotiations for the Renaissance Dam.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them, as well as the developments of negotiations on the Renaissance Dam and the US administration’s pursuit of an agreement that serves the interests of the three countries.
