On Tuesday, a health examination began for about 3,700 passengers and crew of the “Diamond Princess” after it was found that a Hong Kong passenger who had sailed on the same vessel last month had contracted the virus, which was launched from Wuhan, China.
On Wednesday, the National Health Commission of China said the death toll from the spread of the Corona virus in the Chinese mainland had reached 490 cases by the end of Tuesday, an increase of 65 from the previous day.
All new deaths were in the central province of Hubei, the epicenter of the outbreak. In Wuhan, the provincial capital, the number of deaths reached 49.
Across the Chinese mainland, there were 3,887 confirmed new cases, Tuesday, bringing the total number to 24,324.
