The official agency of the Vatican revealed that Pope Francis will not change his position regarding priesthood celibacy, indicating that he will not show any flexibility regarding the end of this matter.
The agency quoted “Aki” Italian news agency “Vatican News” that the official Pope Francis will include this position in a document to be published today, Wednesday, on the results of “the Synod of the Church” held last October on the Amazon.
The issue of priesthood celibacy raises a lot of controversy in civil and religious circles, especially since the marriage of priests is available in the eastern churches.
Pope Francis believes that the problem of the lack of priests in the Western Catholic Church is not accomplished by opening the door of “ordination of married men”, but rather by motivating the laity to engage more and take more responsibility in the ecclesiastical work.
While the opponents of the Pope see that this step lacks a clear religious document, especially since the ecclesiastical authorities have been painting married men as priests in the past centuries.
