Riad Bellour, head of the Tunisian football club, Esperance, revealed that his club is seeking the title of the African Champions League for the third year in a row and the fifth in the club’s history.
When asked about the existence of threats from Kaveh about preventing Esperance from competing for the Champions League title this year after the events of the Moroccan Wydad match, he answered with light: “We have great confidence in competing for the title this season.”
“The Esperance is threatened only if the dates are lit, whether in Tunisia or abroad,” he added, in comments, on Tunisian radio, “IFM”.
He continued: “Any ignition only in the matches will put us under the threat of sanctions, and this is my message to the fans and thank them for their understanding about this situation during the last period.”
Esperance won the CAF Champions League title in the last two versions after defeating Al-Ahly in the 2018 edition, as well as overcoming Wydad in the previous version after the sports court recommended that the “Bab Souika” team win the continental title after the events of the return match at the Olympic stadium in Prades.
The African Champions League draw during this season resulted in a fiery match between Esperance and Zamalek in the quarter-finals, where the first match will be held in Egypt, with the second match taking place in Tunisia.
Esperance will also face Zamalek in the African Super, and next Friday in the Qatari capital, “Doha”, where the team “Blood and Gold” will play this match as a champion for Africa, while the sons of the dead obstacle to this confrontation as the champions of the Confederation of Africa.
