Sayed Abdel Hafeez, Al Ahly’s football director, revealed the injuries that hit the team after confronting South Africas Sundowns.
Al-Ahly decided to qualify for the CAF Champions League semi-finals after overtaking Sundowns in the quarter-finals by a 1-1 draw in South Africa, and winning in the first leg 2-0 in Cairo Stadium.
“Geraldo suffered a twisting in the foot and could not complete the Al-Ahly and Sundowns match,” Abdel Hafeez said in comments to Radio On Sport.
“Mahmoud Metwally suffers from fatigue in the connective muscle, and in the case of Ali Maaloul, he suffers from fatigue in the anterior muscle.”
“The injuries are minor and will not constitute a crisis for the team, we will play a game on Wednesday in the league, and technical matters regarding the players’ position on the next match is up to Feiler.”
Regarding Ramadan Sobhi’s position, he spoke, saying, “He contacted me after the Sundowns match and confirmed his readiness to be with the team. There is no rush regarding Ramadan Sobhi.”
“On Tuesday, he can be with us in a strong way, but we do not want to hurry back, I told him that if he feels any pain even if it is simple, we can wait to make sure he is 100% safe.”
“We currently have enough time until the semi-finals, so there is no reason for us to risk Ramadan Subhi,” he stressed.
The director of football at Al-Ahly club concluded his statements by saying, “We are awaiting the position of the Football Association regarding the grievance regarding the penalties of Kahraba, Yasser Ibrahim and Junior Ajay.”
