The Confederation Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected the Al-Ahly request to change the refereeing team in charge of managing the Al-Ahmar match against Sun Downs in the South in the CAF Champions League.

During the past few days, Al-Ahly’s administration has had several contacts with officials within the African Union in order to pressure and approve the change of Jambi Pakkari Jasama charged with managing the return match against Sun Downs.

The referees committee of the African Union confirmed that it will not back down from the decision to appoint Bakari Jasama to manage the meeting, despite fears among fans and management of Al-Ahly of his level in the upcoming match, in light of his unhappy history with Al-Ahly in continental competitions.

The Al-Ahly delegation will fly to South Africa at eleven pm today, Sunday, to arrive in Johannesburg at seven in the morning, before going on to Pretoria.

Al-Ahly will face Sun Downs team next Saturday at Lucas Moribi Stadium in the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-final, after Al-Ahmar won two goals without reply.
