UEFA has announced that all of its matches will be postponed for the next week due to the outbreak of the Coruna virus in either the European Champions League or the European League.

The text of the statement reads as follows: “In light of recent developments regarding the outbreak of the Corona virus (Covid 19) in Europe, and with regard to decisions regarding different governments, all matches of UEFA club competitions have been postponed.”

“This includes the remaining matches in the 16th round of the UEFA Champions League which were to be held on March 17-18, and the second leg matches of the 16th round of the European League scheduled for March 19, alongside the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.”

“Further decisions regarding these matches will be taken soon,” he added.

“As a consequence of that delay, the European League and Champions League lottery has also been postponed,” he added.

The European Football Association has called for a video meeting on the 17th of this month with all its 55 members, alongside the European Clubs’ Councils, European Leagues, and representatives of the Professional Players Association in FIFA, to discuss the future of European football after the outbreak of the virus.

The outbreak caused a number of European leagues to stop, most notably French, Italian and Spanish, and English and German may follow soon.
