Hazem Imam, the back of Zamalek, confirmed that he had suffered a muscle injury during his team’s match against Esperance in the African Super Cup held in Qatar.
Imam indicated that he felt the injury only 15 minutes after the start of the match, but that he had received a analgesic injection during the break to complete the meeting.
The captain of Zamalek said: “I got an injection before the match because I felt injured, but after only 15 minutes from the start the pain came back to me.”
He concluded: “Mohamed Abdel Ghani started warming up when I complained about the injury, but I got another injection during the break and I finished the match.”
Zamalek crowned the African Super Cup champion at the expense of Esperance, with three goals for one, before eliminating the Tunisian team from the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
