The Maracana Stadium has become one of the most famous football fields in the world on the threshold of becoming a large field hospital, to contain the increasing number of people infected with the “Covid-19” virus, known as the emerging coronavirus.
Like most countries in the world, Brazil was affected by the outbreak, which appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan for the first time in November of 2019, which caused the freezing of sports activity in the country.
According to CNN, Brazil has already started converting many of its huge stadiums to hospitals for the treatment of people infected with the Corona virus, as the transfer of the Bakayembo Stadium in Sao Paulo to a field hospital is nearing completion, and it is planned to add 2000 beds to the stadium in the coming days.
Several major clubs in Brazil, notably Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Santos, have offered their facilities to contribute to attempts to stop the spread of the virus in the country.
The Brazilian Ministry of Health confirmed the infection of 1500 people with the Corona virus, and announced the death of 25 people due to the virus, which affected more than 375 thousand people around the world.
