Today, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, held a meeting with the heads of the four companies providing telecommunications services operating in the Egyptian telecommunications and information technology sector to agree on a number of initiatives to support the educational process during the period of suspension of studies in schools and universities within the framework of the precautionary measures taken by the state to confront a virus Sk.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Raafat Hendi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Infrastructure Affairs and Supervisor of the General Secretariat Sector, Engineer Hossam El-Gamal, Chief Executive of the National Communications Regulatory Authority, Engineer Hala El-Gohary, Chief Executive Officer of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency “ITIDA”, and Engineer Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO For Telecom Egypt.

The meeting was also attended by Eng. Yasser Shaker, CEO of Orange Egypt, Alexander Froman, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, and Hazem Metwally, CEO of Telecom Egypt.

During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat emphasized that coordination with the ministries of Education and Technical Education and Higher Education is carried out in order to support “ways of distance education” in the interest of students in the various educational stages, stressing the importance of synergy efforts between the national agency for the regulation of communications and communications and communication companies Permanent in order to provide the necessary support for the continuation of the educational process for students throughout the Republic.

It was agreed to provide and increase the monthly download capacities for home internet subscriptions for individuals by 20% at a cost of 200 million pounds to be borne by the state for all segments of users in coordination with Internet service providers companies in order to support the availability of distance education and basic services.
