Egyptians outside the Sheikh Zayed Book Award


The Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced on its official website today, Wednesday, the winners of its fourteenth session for the year 2019-2020, which included 6 international writers and writers in addition to an independent literary magazine.

In his literary branch, the poet Moncef Al-Wahaibi from Tunisia won his “Prize for the Last Cup” published by the Muskiliani Publishing House 2019, while writer Ibtisam Barakat from Palestine won the “Child and Young Literature” branch about her story “The Lilac Girl” issued by the Tamer Institution for Education The societal 2019, and the researcher Haider Qasim Matar from Iraq won in the “Young Author” branch for his book “Islamic theology in the studies of German Orientalists – Youssef van S as a model”, published by Dar Al-Rawafid Cultural Publishers and Ibn Al-Nadim Publishing and Distribution 2018.

Mohamed Ait Mihoub from Tunisia also won the translation branch, for his translation of the book “The Romantic Man” by Georges Gossdorf, from French to Arabic, published by “Sinatra” and the Tunisian Institute of Translation 2018.

Dutch writer Richard Van Loen won the Sheikh Zayed Award for Arab Culture in Other Languages ​​for his book “One Thousand and One Nights and Narratives of the Twentieth Century: Attractive Readings” in English, published by Braille Publishing in 2018.

And won the category of publishing and cultural technologies, the British magazine “Banipal Publishing”, which contributed to presenting works from contemporary Arabic literature to English-speaking readers by translating selections from previously published Arabic books and collections, along with many previously unpublished poetic and narrative texts.

The cultural personality of the fourteenth year of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award was also announced, which was won by the Palestinian poet, researcher, translator and academician, Dr. Salma Al-Khadra Al-Jayyousi.

It is mentioned that the winner of the title of “Cultural Personality of the Year” will be awarded with a gold medal bearing the Sheikh Zayed Book Award logo and a certificate of appreciation, in addition to a financial amount of one million dirhams. While the winners in the other branches receive a “gold medal” and a “certificate of appreciation”, in addition to a prize money of 750 thousand dirhams.
