Mark Fota, former Ismaili technical director, said he was waiting for Ahmed Fathi to retire while he was at Al-Ahly, saying that what Pyramids had done was smart.
“In December, I spoke with officials at the Ismaili Club, but I was in a contract with the Emirati unit, and during this time the club contracted another coach,” Fota said in his comments to On Time Sports 2.
He continued: “I will not talk about any matters at the moment about my next experience, but we have to wait until next summer.”
He added: “I always thought that Ahmed Fathi should end his career with Al-Ahly, but Pyramids also were smart to persuade Ahmed Fathi to sign for the team because his presence in the locker rooms is a great addition to the team.”
Mark Fota took over the Ismaili training twice before, the first in 2006 and the second in 2010 and supervised Ahmed Fathi before moving to Sheffield United.
