The new Corona virus continues to reap its victims worldwide, who now number more than 177,000, including one of the veterans of World War II who got “Covid 19” at the age of 100 years, and he is called Phillip Kahn, while his twin died at the age of Himself a century ago due to the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918.
His grandson, Warren Zasman, told CNN that Philip was the oldest veteran of Nassau County, New York State, and was afraid to pass another pandemic similar to the Spanish flu that killed tens of millions.
Zasman said that a priest was often expressed obsessed about another pandemic occurring during their talks, adding: “He told me: I told you that history repeats itself, 100 years is not a long period of time.”
Philip and his twin brother, Samuel, were born on December 5, 1919. His brother died weeks after his birth, according to his grandson.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that the 1918 flu pandemic caused by a virus formerly known as “Spanish flu” killed more than 50 million people worldwide, including about 675,000 in the United States.
To date, the United States has recorded more than 47,000 deaths as a result of “Coved 19”, including at least 20 thousand in New York State, out of a total of more than 849 thousand cases, according to statistics by “Johns Hopkins University”.
Philip was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, said his grandson Zasman, and worked as an engineer and co-pilot.
His grandson said he received two bronze stars in honor of his service during WWII. After the war, the chief electrician worked to help build the World Trade Center. He lived alone on Long Island and walked one to two miles a day, according to Zasman.
During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic since the end of last year, Philip was fully aware of its latest developments and developments based on his eagerness to follow the news all the time, according to his grandson.
In the final days before his soul swelled on April 17, Philip had suffered from symptoms of a cough and respiratory system for the virus, and he knew he might have been infected with “Covid 19”.
Zasman said that Philip had “spoken about his brother a lot in the past few days” before he died, indicating that a veteran warrior tested for a coronavirus, but that his family only had results after his death.
He continued, “He always wanted a great military funeral for him, but we were unable to do so” because of the closure restrictions imposed to confront the deadly epidemic.
