Dr. Shawky Allam, Mufti of the Republic, in coordination with the Islamic Research Academy, determined the value of Zakat al-Fitr for the year 1441 AH at 15 pounds as a minimum for each individual.

The Grand Mufti of the Republic stated that estimating the value of zakat al-Fitr for this year to be at a level of 15 pounds came as a minimum for each individual with the desirability of increasing it to whoever wanted, noting that the Egyptian Ifta House took the opinion of Imam Abu Hanifa on the permissibility of paying zakat al-Fitr in value instead of money instead of Grains to make it easier for the poor to meet their needs and demands, and the fatwa is stable on this. His virtue added, that the value of zakat al-fitr is equivalent to two and a half kilograms of wheat for each individual, since it is the majority of the people of Egypt.

The Mufti of the Mufti indicated that it is permissible to legally pay zakat al-Fitr from the first day of the month of Ramadan, and even before the Eid al-Fitr prayer, and the Mufti of the Republic appealed to Muslims to expedite their zakat al-Fitr and direct it to the poor and needy, especially from irregular workers who lost their jobs, as a result of the repercussions resulting from preventive measures to counter Corona virus, where the Islamic nation, and indeed all of humanity, live in exceptional circumstances that have unprecedentedly changed the features of the usual public life in the month of Ramadan due to these precautions.
