Carrie Simmonds, the pregnant British fiancee of Boris Johnson, announced Saturday that she suffers from Covid-19 symptoms just like her fiance.
But unlike Johnson, the British Prince Charles who was also infected, Simmonds, 32, has not been tested for HIV.
“I spent the last week in bed when I had major symptoms of the emerging coronavirus,” wrote Symonds, who is due to give birth in mid-this year on Twitter. “I didn’t need to take a test, and after seven days of rest, I feel stronger and my condition is improving.”
“Obviously, pregnancy with Covid-19 infection is worrying,” added Symonds, who has linked an website to the British Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. For other pregnant women, please read and follow the latest guidelines »noting that she found the instructions very reassuring.
“In general, pregnant women do not seem to be at greater risk for their condition than the other healthy adults if they contract the emerging coronavirus,” said an article on the college’s website. It is expected that the vast majority of pregnant women will experience only mild or moderate symptoms similar to the cold / flu symptoms.
