Ayman Mansour, the former star of Zamalek, said that he was about to join the technical staff of Al-Ahly, as he was addressed by the Portuguese coach Nilo Vingada to work with him in the Red Club in 2009.
Mansour responded to the news of his approaching joining Al-Ahly’s technical staff in televised comments on OnTime Sport screen saying: “Yes, he spoke to me in Vingada and I did not mind despite my belonging to Zamalek, we are in a professional era.”
The striker, who scored the goal of Zamalek’s victory over Al-Ahly in the African Super Cup in 1994, continued: “I was working outside the Egyptian territories at that time, and Vengada contacted me, Al-Ahly and Zamalek could not be rejected, but it did not happen.”
Former Zamalek coach Vengada was about to lead Al-Ahly, but the two sides retracted the deal, to lead Egyptian coach Hossam Al-Badry to Al-Ahly at that time.
