Among the most prominent topics that raise people’s curiosity, amid the outbreak of corona, is about the ability of mouthwashes to eliminate the virus.
The World Health Organization, through its official account on Facebook, that “there is no evidence that the use of mouthwash will protect you from infection with the emerging corona virus.”
She added: “Some types of mouthwashes can eliminate some microbes for a few minutes, in saliva in your mouth, but this does not mean that they protect you from infection with the Corona virus.”
What are the symptoms of the virus?
Fever, coughing, runny nose, sore throat and difficulty breathing are the most common symptoms of the Coronavirus.
“It may be more severe for some people and may lead to pneumonia or difficulty breathing,” the WHO says.
The organization adds that the disease is rarely fatal, as it appears that the elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as diabetes and heart disease) are more susceptible to severe infection with this virus.
So, how can you protect yourself from the emerging corona virus?
Dr. John Weissman, the Secretary of Health in Washington state, said the public should do “what people are doing in every cold and flu season.”
This includes washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
And if you feel nauseous, cover your mouth and nose completely when coughing or sneezing. But do not use your hands. Use an elbow or handkerchief immediately.
