The World Health Organization has warned that the emerging coronavirus will remain for a long time in humans, stressing the need to develop and share tools to defeat it.
“This virus will stay with us for a long time, and for this reason we must unite in order to develop and share tools to defeat it,” WHO Director-General Tidros Adhanom Gebrysos said at a virtual press conference on Monday, reported by the network “Russia Today”.
Gebrysos praised the outcome of the international donor conference, “The Global Response to the Corona Virus,” during which today it announced allocating 7.4 billion yoyo to efforts to develop a vaccine and treatment of the disease, and stressed: “We will achieve victory thanks to national unity and global solidarity.”
He stated that the Geneva-based World Health Organization will publish later this week an updated strategic plan for pandemic preparedness and response, which will include information on financial needs to support the fight against the pandemic at the international level.
Since January 2020, the world has been facing a deteriorating crisis caused by the outbreak of the newly created Corona virus “COVID-19”, which has led to huge losses in many sectors of the economy, especially transport, tourism and entertainment, the collapse of global exchanges and the acceleration of the decline in energy markets.
On January 30, the World Health Organization classified the emergence of the emerging coronavirus infection, on an international level, as declared on March 11 by a public pandemic. To date, more than 3.5 million cases of this strain have been recorded in nearly 180 countries, including 250,000. Death and 1.16 million recoveries.
