Dr. Jehal Al-Assal, a member of the scientific committee to tackle the Corona virus at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that it had been decided to keep the drug “hydroxychloroquine” within the protocol of treatment of people with the emerging coronavirus.
Al-Assal added, in statements to Masrawy, today, Saturday: The results of the studies that we conducted on Hydroxy-Clorkin proved its effectiveness in treatment and it was promising, and the recovery rate is good.
She explained that there was an amendment to the treatment protocol for those affected, and Tamiflu was deleted, and the addition of alternatives to other antiviral drugs with hydroxychloroquine.
She noted that the protocol was finalized yesterday evening Friday at the meeting of the Scientific Committee, and it will be adopted and announced later in the day.
This comes despite a decision by the World Health Organization to suspend the clinical trials of “hydroxychloroquine” for the treatment of Covid-19, until further notice, after a prolonged debate on the effectiveness of malaria, in treating patients.
