Osama Orabi, the former Al-Ahly player, confirmed that he is against the idea of canceling the league competition this season because of the Corona virus, pointing out that the competition must be completed even if it is for a late stage.
“Clubs will incur millions in losses if the league is canceled, and the decision not to complete the activity will definitely affect the Egyptian football negatively,” Orabi said in comments to the Al-Thalat fans program on On Time Sports.
He added that there are some clubs calling for the cancellation of the competition due to the difficult position in the ranking table, so it is in their interest to cancel the competition and start a league from its inception.
He explained that granting Al-Ahly the league title this season in the event of canceling the competition will not be a good thing, because there are still a large number of matches for each team.
He pointed out that Al-Ahly did not settle the title before suspending the activity and giving him the title would not be the right decision, in addition to the decline of the three teams that remove the arrangement, he still has an opportunity to stay.
Orabi completed his remarks: “The league must be completed even if next July, and after that the new season will follow after the clubs rest for a short period. This is an exceptional circumstance that has not happened before.”
