Today, Sunday, the New Cairo Public Prosecution Office ordered the referral of 12 people to the Emergency State Security Misdemeanor Court, accusing them of violating the Cabinet’s decision to prevent gatherings and conducting Tarawih prayers on the roof of one of their homes.
The prosecution released the defendants on bail of 500 pounds each, and then referred them to trial at the next June 2 session.
Lawyers Muhammad Rashwan and Ihab took charge of the defense of the accused, and they pleaded not to have a criminal intent to commit the crime.
The Kattameya section officers arrested the defendants on charges of establishing the Tarawih prayer collectively on the roofs of the Katameya region, in violation of the decision of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Awqaf to prevent gatherings and cancel Tarawih prayers.
