Books – Muhammad Hammam:
Moroccan Abdel-Moneim Bah, Secretary-General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), revealed a proposal to postpone the African Cup of Nations, which will be held on Cameroonian territory at the beginning of this year 2021.
Bah added, in statements carried by the Tunisian newspaper “Al-Sareeh”, from the Cameroonian radio station “SPORT INFO”, that Kaf is considering postponing the African Cup of Nations for a year to be held in 2022 instead of 2021 due to the spread of the new Corona virus epidemic, and stopping sports activity in the countries of the continent.
Secretary “CAF” ruled out the establishment of the tournament in the summer of 2021 in Cameroon, stressing: “The tournament cannot be held in the summer due to climatic conditions in Cameroon, and for this reason we decided to hold the tournament in January.”
Bah ended his statements by asserting that all hesitations are merely suggestions, because the priority is to hold the championship on time, especially as “K” has time to finish the remaining rounds of the preliminaries in October and November.
It is worth noting that the African Nations qualifiers witnessed the holding of only two rounds, before KF decided to postpone all competitions, whether teams or clubs, due to the new epidemic of Corona virus (Covid 19).
