Corona virus has claimed many lives around the world, and scientists are constantly trying to identify its main symptoms and make people aware of all updates in order to be more cautious.
Symptoms of the virus vary greatly, ranging from a moderate temperature to difficulty breathing. The new coronavirus is mainly classified as a respiratory virus because it attacks the lungs.
However, new signs of infection were discovered and added to the CDC’s official list of symptoms.
In order to warn people of these symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States added three new symptoms from “Covid-19” to the official list, according to “Russia Today”.
Symptoms listed in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention include: runny nose, congestion, nausea, and diarrhea.
The official list of Covid-19 symptoms includes: cough, fever, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, and sore throat.
“This list does not include all possible symptoms,” the CDC website said, adding that the page was revised last May.
Doctors and health experts from around the world understood how nasal cavities were critical in determining the physiology of the Coronavirus.
“Covid-19 is associated with a somewhat unique mixture of nasal symptoms,” said Ahmed Sedgat, associate professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Sudden olfactory loss was reported in Corona patients. “It happens without a stuffy nose, which is very predictive of Covid-19, and it should push the individual to self-quarantine immediately.”
“Runny nose is another symptom that has been reported in Covid-19 patients,” said Katrina Herren, chief clinic officer at Doctorlink. It occurs in about 5% of people with Covid-19.
“There is no real way to tell the difference without a laboratory test to check for the viruses that cause Covid-19 and the common cold,” she added. However, if you do not have a fever or a persistent cough, it is likely a cold instead of Covid-19.
According to Mayo Clinic, symptoms of the digestive system, including loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, are symptoms that may only last one day.
And the health institution states that “some people with Covid-19 suffer from diarrhea and nausea before having a fever and respiratory symptoms.”
These symptoms may not last as long as the most common ones are fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
