On Tuesday, the United Nations announced the Libyan parties’ acceptance of the resumption of ceasefire negotiations.
The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry and the Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during a telephone conversation between them, expressed their countries’ welcome to the United Nations announcement that both the Libyan National Army and the Al-Wefaq government would accept the resumption of the ceasefire talks.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a political solution that supports peace, security and stability throughout Libya.
In a joint statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the UAE called for a commitment to the political process under the supervision of the United Nations, and through the course of the Berlin Conference, stressing that the political process is the only solution to achieving peace in Libya and preserving the unity and integrity of its lands, according to what Reported by Emirates news agency “WAM”.
The joint statement stated that the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt stand with the Libyan people and all parties that demand calm in the blood of innocent civilians and achieve stability in Libya, especially with the continuation of humanitarian efforts in the face of the emerging Corona virus.
