Egyptian actress Sama El-Masry faces many charges that she may place during a women’s prison in Egypt, where she is scheduled to be tried on June 6.
The case papers clarified that Sama Al-Masry faces accusations of incitement to immorality and debauchery, through the use of social media, by publishing pictures and videos of modesty, and inciting the publication and broadcast of indecent clips of modesty.
Law No. 146 of 2019 stipulates that in the case of publishing images of astonishing shyness and video clips, he shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding 10,000 pounds, or by either of these two penalties for anyone who publishes images with the intention of displaying them if they are dishonorable to the public shyness, as stipulated in Article 178 sanctions.
As for calling for the temptation to prostitution on social media sites, it is punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 3 years and by a fine not exceeding 100 pounds for anyone who announces in any way of advertising an invitation that includes seduction, immorality, prostitution or attracting attention, according to Article 14 of Law No. 10 of 1960.
As for assaulting family principles and values in Egyptian society, it is punishable by imprisonment for a period of no less than six months, and by a fine of no less than fifty thousand pounds and not exceeding one hundred thousand pounds, or by one of these two penalties, whoever assaults any of the family principles or values in society Al-Masry (Article 25 of Law 175 of 2018) regarding combating IT crime.
The law punishes the creation and management of an account on the Internet to incite immorality, by imprisonment for a period of no less than two years and a fine of no less than one hundred thousand pounds, and no more than three hundred thousand pounds, or one of these two penalties, whoever creates, manages, or uses a website or an account on a network Informatics designed to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime that is legally punishable.
The Egyptian Public Prosecutor had ordered the imprisonment of the accused, Samia Ahmed Attia Abdel Rahman, and her reputation as Sama Al-Masry, for accusing her of publishing photos and video clips.
