Said Naciri, President of Moroccos Wydad Club, confirmed that the confrontation of his team with Al-Ahly in the semi-finals of the African Champions League has become more difficult, in light of its establishment of a single playoff.
In comments to Le360 of Morocco, Al-Nassiri indicated that his team will go to Cameroon – as mentioned – a few days before the meeting with Al-Ahly to get a feel for the weather there.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, had decided to play the semifinals between Al-Ahly and Al-Wadad, Zamalek and Al-Raja from one match, but it had not announced its establishment in Cameroon in an official capacity.
Al-Nassiri said: “Establishing the semifinals of a playoff match is difficult for all clubs. The return and return system increases the chances of qualifying or modifying the result if the first confrontation is not in our favor.”
He continued: “We are currently preparing well for this confrontation and our goal is to reach the final round, and I will work with the technical staff of the team to determine the preparation program for the Al-Ahly meeting.”
He concluded: “We will travel to the host country several days before the meeting with Al-Ahly, in order to adapt to the conditions and atmosphere, especially as the humidity level is high in Cameroon.”
