Mohamed Youssef, the former general coach of Al-Ahly, stated that the comparison of Patrice Carteron’s experience with the team, and what he currently offers in Zamalek, is illogical because of the different level of elements of the two teams.
Youssef said in his statements to the channel “On Time Sports”: “The comparison between the experience of Cartieron or any coach in two difficult clubs, you cannot say that he succeeded in one place and did not succeed in another because there are many factors that control the matter.”
He continued: “The football team is not based on the coach only, but there are players as well, to admit that the team that was with Carton in Al-Ahly is not as strong as the current Zamalek team.”
He added: “Zamalek possesses a strong team, unusual solutions, players who make the difference, internationals, and strong personalities inside and outside the stadium, whether Ferjani Sassi, Tariq Hamid, Shikabala or Mustafa Mohamed, who is strong.”
He continued: “But in Al-Ahly, Carton did not have the same strength and evidence as the strong January contracts that the club made to support the team, make the difference and win the league championship.”
He continued: “The evidence for this is the departure of 7 or 8 players, whether by loan or sale in January of the same year, some of them played and some of them did not play and each player has his conditions.”
Carteron had a short experience in Al-Ahly that ended after losing the CAF Champions League final and leaving the Arab Championship, while he won with the Zamalek Egyptian and African Super Championships.
